11 Pounds of Pure Love

Alex is getting bigger and bigger.  Mike says that Alex is chubby and has given him knick names such as "Mr. Chubs", but I think he's just right.  He has a little belly which is oh, so cute.  He has super cute cheeks and thighs.

Mike has been saying that he thinks Alex looks more like him than me.  Over the weekend while we were home, we spent some time looking through baby books.  I can't say that Alex really looks like many of my baby pictures, but there are certain pictures of my brother that I think Alex resembles.  However, in this picture below, I definitely think he looks like Mike.  It will be fun to look through Mike's baby pictures the next time we are at the farm to see how many of them look like Alex.

Mike likes to give Alex lots of kisses.  Alex likes it best when he's not hungry.  He was hungry in this photo.

Family Gatherings

This weekend Alex got to meet Mom's extended family.  Grandma and Grandpa Bruzek hosted two parties for Alex.  The food was great!  (Thanks Grandma!) And the invitations were adorable (Thanks Auntie Beth!) It was also the first overnight trip away from home.  He did very well!

On Saturday the Rivers family gathered to meet Alex.  He was awake most of the day and loved being held by all of his aunties, uncles and cousin Rachel.
Alex enthralled by Aunt Mary Rivers' bird calls.  She used to do this for his mom when she was a baby too.

Uncle John Rivers hasn't lost the touch either.
I thought I did a great job of getting pictures of everyone with Alex, but I missed photos of Rachel and Auntie Anne.  If someone has a good one can they send it to me?

On Sunday the Bruzek family came to meet Alex.  He loved being held by everyone.

L to R:  cousin Mike Frost, Mike's fiance Deb Carpenter, Deb's daughter Addy, and Aunt Mary Frost.

Does Addy looks like she enjoys this?!  She did a great job.  Alex loved being held by Addy.

Cousins Hallie, Joey and Jenny making faces at Alex.

Joey (age 3) thinks this baby is okay, but isn't about to give him a kiss on the head as was suggested.

Alex and Auntie Deb Hanzel

Cousin Hallie VonBank and Alex.  Doesn't he look comfy?

Alex also loved cousin Katie Irwin.  He even smiled for her.

Judging by this picture of Alex with Aunt Mary, you'd think he was awake for much of this.

But actually, he spent most of the time like this - sacked out.  Here he is cuddling with cousin Rachel VonBank

Cousin Joey helped Mom open the presents.  He wasn't too crazy about all of the clothes.
I thought they were great!!!  Alex will be stylin'!

Joey much preferred the toys.  Alex will like them as well soon enough.

It's a good thing that Alex can't read yet.
(Onesie says "Party tonight my crib 3am" for those of  you who can't read that small print)

The whole Fam Damily.
Again, I thought I did such a good job of getting pictures with everyone but I missed pictures of Mary Irwin and Steve Frost holding Alex.  So if anyone has any of those, send them along.

After all of that excitement and holding, I was afraid that Alex would just want to be held all day on Monday, but he was pretty much back to normal and took two naps in his crib.  It didn't seem to phase him too much.  Hopefully he'll continue to be an easy going baby.  For now, we'll just enjoy it!

A busy Valentine's Day

Today we had a lot going on.

We started with an appointment at the clinic for an ultrasound of Alex's hips.  Some breech babies have trouble with proper alignment of their hips.  So usually at about 6-8 weeks old, they do an ultrasound to check that everything is developing as it should be.  If not, they can correct it with braces as the baby grows.

Alex did great during the ultrasound as the tech checked each hip and took lots and lots of pictures.  Hardly any fussing and I think the scanning took at least 20 minutes.  Then she left to talk to the pediatric radiologist who read the images.  When the doctor came in to tell me that everything looked great and perfectly normal, she had two residents with her.  I think because Alex was so good during the ultrasound they asked if the two residents could also take a look.  And Alex complied by being good during the extra few minutes of scanning.  Then we went to lunch with one of my coworkers.

Early evening all three of us went to Baby and Me class through the early childhood program.  It was fun!  Then we went to dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant.

Sorry no pictures taken today.  I should have taken a picture at Baby and Me class.

Bath Time

Pictures taken Wednesday February 8th.  We crank up the heat upstairs and keep the door to the bathroom shut for a little while so it gets nice and warm in there.  He seems to like the bath.

SocialIce

We had a busy weekend.  The Rochester downtown business created the longest ice bar in Minnesota. Or rather they paid professionals to create the longest ice bar complete with fun ice carvings.  Mike's coworkers were supposed to do a happy hour down there Friday evening and Alex and I planned to meet them.  Everyone backed out.  So Alex went on a date with Mom and Dad.  We lasted long enough to have one drink and then headed indoors for dinner.

The blue round thing under my coat is Alex's head.

On Saturday the Hammerberg family came to visit us in the afternoon.  Thanks for cuddling me Jessie!

Cuddling with Dad on Saturday.

Just some pictures

Just some photos from the last week or so.

In his 2 month photo he's wearing these puppy slippers.  Not only are they adorable, but they actually stay on his feet!

Developing my social smile!

Home from the hospital (again)

Mike took these pictures today after we got home from the hospital.  Alex is getting bigger and so strong.   He seems back to his old self with just a little help from some baby Tylenol.

We've had some fun visits from family.  On January 22nd we were visited by Aunt Lisa, Aunt Kim, Uncle Fred and cousins Ryan and Kaitlyn.  We should have gotten more pictures, but did manage to get this one cousin Kaitlyn giving Alex a kiss.

January 22, 2012  Kaitlyn (2) and Alex
Grandma and Grandpa Bruzek and Auntie Beth and Uncle Cory came to visit on January 29, 2012.
